Business analytics as a service

Analytics as a service (AaaS) is when clients pay a subscription for pre-built automated analytics solutions like KPI dashboards and data pipelines. It also goes by business analytics as a service or data analytics as a service. This saves you time having to develop and maintain those dashboards yourself so you can get started with analytics quickly.

Below we explain how the model works and what it costs, then compare 10 business analytics as a service providers. Most business analytics as a service companies fall into one of three groups: specialist BI and analytics firms, enterprise consultancies built for large programs, and cloud platforms that give your own team the tools.

We’re on the list too. Vidi Corp has built more than 1,000 business intelligence dashboards for over 600 clients. We’ve described every company, ourselves included, by the kind of business it fits best.

What Is Analytics As A Service Business Model?

Analytics as a service is a subscription model where an outside provider delivers the data pipelines, cloud storage, dashboards, and analyst support a business needs to report on its data. The client pays a recurring monthly/annual fee instead of hiring a data analyst or buying and running the infrastructure itself.

The AAAS companies would usually specialize in some type of analytics like ecommerce, marketing, accounting, etc. They would develop integrations with common data sources e.g. QuickBooks Online, Shopify, etc to automate data extraction. Those would be paired with KPI dashboards providing common analysis from these data sources.

Some providers develop their own software to distribute their analytics as a service solutions. Others would provide ready-made analytics solutions in tools like Power BI and Looker Studio.

Analytics As A Service Vs SaaS Analytics Platforms

Power BI, Qlik Cloud, and Domo are data visualization software companies which is something very different. You pay for licenses, and your own people build KPI dashboards starting from 0. Some vendors call this analytics platform as a service.

Analytics as a service is the managed version. The provider does that work for you. If you already have a BI team, a platform may be enough. If you want the reports but not the hire, a managed provider makes more sense. Our business intelligence as a service page covers the lighter version, where we build the dashboards and model with less analyst time.

1. Vidi Corp

Best for: small businesses with some need for custom Power BI development

Pricing: $1000-1600 per year for connectors. $75-100 per hour for custom development.

Vidi Corp is a business analytics as a service provider with offices in the UK and US. It ranked the #1 Business Intelligence consultancy worldwide on G2. Its business analytics consultants work across Power BI, Tableau, and Looker Studio. They provide data connectors to automatically connect to ~15 sources including QuickBooks Online, Clickup, Xero, Shopify, Zoom, Stripe, Hubspot and a few others. the software is certified by Intuit, Stripe and Zoom for data security and technical capability.

The connectors feed data into ready-made Power BI templates that contain a lot of useful analysis and have all the formulas to make your numbers match.

Clients pay a yearly fee for the connectors and templates, then optionally buy analyst hours each month for new dashboards, KPI changes, modeling, and upkeep. The team has a track record of 200+ verified reviews with some impressive results. For Neterra, it rebuilt a Power BI model over tens of millions of rows and helped find a 50,000 EUR cost saving. Clients range from small businesses to enterprises such as Google, Teleperformance, and the UK Ministry of Defence.

Things to consider: fixed packages start at 10 hours a month, so for a single dashboard, ask about a one-off project instead.

2. Coupler.io

Best for: marketing analytics in Power BI/Looker Studio

Pricing: $24 per month

Coupler is primarily a data integration tool that allows to connect marketing data sources to Power BI, Looker Studio, Claude and more. Their connectors are very affordable making them a good fit for small businesses with limited budget.

They also provide free dashboard templates that help to get started quickly. Honestly, those templates are pretty advanced as they allow to combine data from Facebook, Google and Bing into a single dashboard.

Finally, they also provide data analytics development services so you can pay their developers to create a dashboard for you. The pricing for their development services is not published.

3. TapClicks

Best for: marketing agencies and internal marketing teams.

Pricing: $650+ per month and $150-250 per hour for development.

TapClicks have their own software for data visualization instead of relying on Power BI or Looker Studio. They have developed 250+ integrations and mainly target marketing teams as their customers.

We have worked with one marketing agency before on a marketing analytics consulting project. They paid TapClicks around $2k per month for access to their software and some development support.

Things to consider: it’s built around marketing and ad data, so finance or operations might be better off using another tool. Also tools like Power BI only cost $14 per user per month and are a lot more advanced in data visualization and data modelling.

4. AgencyAnalytics

Best for: start-up marketing agencies that send automated, branded reports to clients.

Pricing: $20 per client per month

AgencyAnalytics is a client reporting platform built for marketing agencies. At their core they are offering ready-made white labeled automated reports to agencies that run SEO or PPC campaigns for clients. At the end of every month the agencies would need to report on how they used the budget and what results they got for clients. Agency analytics takes full care of this.

Based on our experience their ready-made reports are easy to set up but they have limited customization options. If you need more complex formulas and custom analysis, you will eventually run into limitations.

Things to consider: we have mainly seen start-up marketing agencies only using Agency Analytics. At some point almost every agency needs more custom dashboards. Most agencies that we worked with start developing Looker Studio dashboards when this need arises.

5. Databox

Best for: client-facing analytics for agencies and consultancies.

Pricing: $79+ per user per month

Databox is started as a data visualization tool with 130+ data integrations. Those integrations are mainly to marketing data sources although they include some other tools like Xero, Jira and more.

They are now trying to transition to being an AI-enabled analytics and AI agent platform. As part of that push they added functionality to optimise the semantic layer by specifying definitions for every metric, adding synonyms, etc. By doing this they are targeting users who are too busy to learn Power BI or Looker Studio syntax.

Things to consider: paid tiers are sized by the number of data sources. AI analytics is also a nice marketing feature but in our experience it still takes a lot of work to receive accurate numbers from AI.

6. Glew

Best for: online stores that sell across several channels and want ready-made ecommerce reports.

Pricing: $9,949 per year

Glew is a Charlotte-based ecommerce analytics platform for stores on Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento. It blends store, marketing, and marketplace data into reports on inventory, sell-through, product profitability, customer lifetime value, and channel performance.

We actually used to do data analytics outsourcing for one of Glew partners so we got a deep-dive experience into the platform. Glew have all of their dashboards developed in Looker which is then embedded into their software.

Things to consider: We faced a few limitations when working on Glew. Firstly, the data on Glew wasn’t always accurate. Sometimes we had to communicate with Glew support to highlight that the data on Glew is different to BrightPearl or BigCommerce. They usually took a few weeks to solve these issues.

Secondly, Glew have a lot of limitations for creating custom dashboards. They don’t give access to LookerML which is the main interface to do data transformations and aggregations. As a result custom dashboards take a lot more time than necessary.

There are some limitations that come from Looker as well. Looker enforces strict formatting where filters can only be displayed at the top and there can be no overlapping visual elements. This is an important limitations for teams who value dashboard design.

7. Triple Whale

Best for: Shopify brands that spend heavily on paid ads and need attribution reporting.

Pricing: 219+ per month

Triple Whale is a Shopify-first analytics and attribution platform used by more than 60,000 ecommerce brands. It pairs a first-party pixel with multi-touch attribution, marketing mix modeling, and incrementality testing. Its AI assistant, Moby, answers questions and builds reports. A free plan covers 10 users and a 12-month lookback.

Our GA4 consultants often use TrippleWhale for ecommerce clients who need attribution reports. It’s easy enough to set up and also includes integrations to 60+ other data sources including Facebook, Google Ads and more.

Things to consider: paid plans are priced by GMV, so the bill rises with revenue, and it focuses on marketing performance rather than full financial reporting.

8. Polar Analytics

Best for: Shopify brands that want their own data warehouse without hiring engineers.

Pricing: $470+ per month

Polar Analytics brings 45+ ecommerce data sources into one dashboard covering profit and loss, acquisition, retention, and merchandising. Its plans include a dedicated Snowflake data warehouse and a first-party pixel.

They are also relying on AI assistants to handle custom analytics for clients. This seems to be a modern trend for analytics as a service platforms.

Things to consider: like Triple Whale, the price grows with your store revenue, and it only serves ecommerce.

9. Amplitude

Best for: SaaS companies that want to build analytics into their own product.

Pricing: $299

Amplitude is one of the most common analytics as a service platforms in SaaS engagment analytics space. It allows analyst to set up event tracking and calculate essential metrics like active users, retention, churn, app crashes, etc.

It helps companies to discover insights to keep their app users more engaged, retain them on subscription for longer and convert them to a paying customer. We have worked with CTOs of SaaS companies who use it to plan new feature development and identify which areas of the app to optimize.

10. Mixpanel

Best for: SaaS companies who need event tracking and interactive dashboards.

Pricing: $25+ per month

Mixpanel is a more affordable version of Amplitude. Most of our SaaS analytics clients chose between Mixpanel and Amplitude. Occasionally we help clients to track events in Firebase and create custom dashboards in Looker Studio. This approach is a bit more flexible and cheaper for event tracking.

They also provide heatmaps of user sessions so you can see where people are looking at the screen when they interact with the app. This is a key feature for UI optimizations. They also provide functionality for A/B tests where you can compare the metrics of 2 versions of the app.

How To Choose A Business Analytics As A Service Provider

A short call with each shortlisted provider will tell you most of what you need. These are the questions worth asking:

  • Which of our systems do you already connect to, and what happens when we add a new one?
  • Can we see dashboards you’ve built for our department or industry?
  • Who maintains the data model and fixes failed refreshes once we’re live?
  • What does the monthly fee cover, and what gets quoted separately? Get this in writing.
  • How do you control access? Ask about row-level security and user permissions.
  • How is our data backed up and recovered? For manufacturers with records across several plants, reliable backup storage for manufacturers is part of keeping reporting running.
  • Do you have case studies with real numbers, such as hours saved or reporting time cut?

Analytics As A Service Vs Hiring An In-House BI Team

The usual alternative is hiring your own BI specialist. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the May 2025 median salary was $120,230 for data scientists and $139,500 for database architects, the two roles closest to a BI developer. Add benefits, payroll taxes, recruiting, and training on top.

A full-time employee works about 160 hours a month. Our Small package (60 hours) is a bit under half of that, Medium (120 hours) is about three quarters, and Large (240 hours) is roughly one and a half people split across two specialists.

Hour for hour, a salaried employee who’s busy every day costs less. But most companies don’t need a full-time BI person every month. Work spikes during a new build or a system rollout, then drops back to maintenance. With a package you pay for the hours you use, and the Flexible option lets you change them as plans shift. You also get people who cover data engineering, modeling, and dashboard design, which is hard to find in one hire. And when someone leaves, the work carries on while you’d otherwise be recruiting.

An in-house team is the better choice when analytics is part of the product, needs someone on it every day, or uses data that can’t leave your own environment.

Analytics As A Service FAQ

What Is Analytics As A Service?

It’s a subscription where an outside provider runs your data pipelines, cloud storage, dashboards, and analyst support. You get the reporting without hiring an in-house BI team.

What Is The Difference Between AaaS And SaaS?

SaaS analytics tools are software your own team sets up and maintains. Analytics as a service is a managed service: the provider builds and runs the reporting for you, usually on top of a SaaS tool.

What Is Data Analytics As A Service?

It’s another name for the same model. The provider handles data integration, storage, modeling, and reporting, and you pay a recurring fee.

What Are The Best Business Analytics As A Service Companies?

It depends on what you need. Companies of any size that want managed BI and reporting usually get the best value from specialists such as Vidi Corp, P3 Adaptive, ScienceSoft, or Analytics8. Large multi-country transformation programs tend to go to Accenture or Deloitte. Companies with their own technical team often build on Microsoft, AWS, or Google Cloud.

What Is An Example Of Analytics As A Service?

A Shopify brand subscribes to a service that pulls its store data every day, stores it in a managed Azure SQL database, and feeds a Power BI sales dashboard. Monthly consulting hours cover any changes the team asks for.

How Much Does Analytics As A Service Cost?

At Vidi Corp, pricing has two parts. Our data connectors and Power BI templates cost $1,000 to $1,600 a year. Analyst time is $100 an hour in monthly packages of 60 hours ($6,000), 120 hours ($12,000), or 240 hours ($24,000), or a custom number of hours.

What Is Big Data Analytics As A Service?

It’s the same model applied to very large datasets, often tens of millions of rows. The provider designs the warehouse, data model, and refresh logic so dashboards stay fast at that size.
